Well this week has been interesting and good! This week after being in sunny Palm Desert for a 5 show weekend, the tour headed to Portland, Oregon. I must say that Portland is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. It reminds me so much of the NYC but less crowded and a lot cleaner. We stayed at a fabulous hotel which overlooked a nice lake (which could be seen right outside my window... and they have bath robes for the guests too!)... and we were in walking distance to the theater and lots of shopping. The best part about Portland is that there is NO TAX!!! :-) So when I bought a pair of gloves from Sears... the retail price was $5... and that's exactly the amount I paid!! :-)
After Portland, we then crossed the border and landed in Kamploops, British Columbia (a.k.a Canada!). I was very surprised to see that it really didn't seem so different from the states. In fact, it seemed exactly like the states. The only reason why it seemed different at times was due to the Mountains. It felt as if we were constantly driving in mountains. We were also constantly warned about black ice on the roads and sidewalk. Performance wise, Kamloops was different. It was the first performance that we did in an arena. To me, everything appeared to be so massive, but nonetheless it was one great experience!!
Finally, we ended the week with our shows in Vancouver. Personally, I loved Vancouver... mainly for the shopping!! It's a very trendy city and they have stores that I have not seen in the United States. There was a holiday parade here that I viewed for about 5 minutes (I would've stayed longer for it but I had some shopping to do!) I also enjoyed the food here! I had some authentic coffee and visited a mediterranean restaurant that I absolutely fell in love with. The best part about being in Canada is that things are cheaper than they actually seem. Let's face it, America is going through an economic crisis, hence our dollar is worth less here. So I ended up spending less money than I thought I would. I know I say this about every city, but Vancouver is a very lovely place! :-)
Well tomorrow (or maybe I should say today since it is 1:55 am where I am at), I will be heading to Anchorage, Alaska!! Yep!... until the next post... Peace and Blessings! :-)
